YouToCoin reported on July 24, citing South Korean media Daum, that the South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb announced the launch of a video call identity verification procedure for elderly users to prevent financial crimes such as account opening under false names, account rental, and cryptocurrency investment fraud. According to regulations, if the video verification finds that the account is not being used by the actual owner, the platform will immediately restrict login; if the user does not answer the video call, the system will attempt to contact them up to four times. If verification still cannot be completed, withdrawal and asset transfer functions will be temporarily restricted until identity confirmation is completed.
