Odaily Planet Daily News The People's Court of Mingshan District, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province recently issued a verdict in a case involving a new type of cross-border cyber pornography crime, where virtual currency was used to launder money.
The investigation revealed that the overseas pornographic website "Xiuxiu Sema" had a capital flow of over 12 million yuan. The domestic suspects, Zhong Mouhong, Zhong Mou, and Zhong Moujie, were responsible for the website's operation and maintenance. After receiving the illicit funds, the involved suspect Tang Mou and his spouse transferred the vast majority of the money to their brother-in-law, Li Mouwu. Li Mouwu's accounts received over 8.6 million yuan in illicit funds, part of which was converted into virtual currency and handed over to the overseas mastermind to be transferred abroad. Currently, the court has sentenced the five defendants, including Zhong Mouhong, to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from one year and three months to two years and six months, or suspended sentences, along with fines ranging from 30,000 yuan to 100,000 yuan.
