PANews reported on June 8 that according to Decrypt, the U.S. Department of Justice has filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit to confiscate $7.74 million worth of cryptocurrencies that North Korean IT workers laundered through fraudulent employment at U.S. and foreign companies. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, North Korean IT workers used false or fraudulently obtained identities to work at U.S. cryptocurrency companies, were paid in stablecoins, and then laundered the money through various means and transferred the proceeds back to North Korea.
