Overlay is a long/short trading protocol for DeFi data streams, providing users with nearly all trading scalars, as well as unoperable and unpredictable data streams. It recreates trading dynamics, but does not require counterparty to solve liquidity problems that appear in the forecast market, replacing it with inflation issues.
Overlay was founded by developer Michael Feldman. Overlay uses Chainlink as an oracle to create a prediction market, and users can directly use the project token OVL as a payment mechanism to short or long the data of a certain event. The user does not need to become a counterparty with other market participants, but instead predicts the trend direction of the data by betting on the data stream. After expiration, the smart contract will mint or destroy the corresponding proportion of OVL tokens based on the change ratio of the result data to the original data.
