It is mainly responsible for storing data on the chain and providing bandwidth for Ethereum. Swarm and smart contracts and Whisper (data Encrypted interaction) together form the three pillars of Ethereum web3.0.

BZZ is a functional token issued by Swarm, which is the fuel for using Swarm's decentralized storage and bandwidth.
