There are two users in the BEAT ecosystem: data providers and data consumers. Users can decide independently whether they want to become a data provider by sharing specific data according to the contract agreement with the future data consumer. Data consumers can only access the data agreed in the contract and only for the sole purpose defined in the contract. Data consumers will have easy access to authenticated and immutable data. In return, these data consumers—often fitness suppliers such as gyms, pharmaceutical companies, and exercise equipment manufacturers—will offer their products and services at discounted prices, or even provide them for free to the data provider. The BEAT ecosystem allows data creators and consumers to share their fitness data in exchange for BEAT. BEAT also allows users to create contracts in exchange for staying fit, much like companies reward employees for going to the gym.
