Bjorn has looked into a hybrid version of its mesh network project by introducing blockchain technology. BlockMesh was founded by co-founder Jason Griessel and reached out to a group of enthusiasts and external partners.
Bjorn started working on the concept of rewarding users with cryptocurrencies as an incentive to grow the network with users.
Bjorn continued to find ways to make mesh networking a viable product, and turned his attention to networking in Bluetooth devices.
Bjorn then partnered with Bytes (bytes.co.za) to manage the infrastructure implementation. The pilot program provided Bjorn with valuable hands-on experience.
A pilot programme for local residents and visiting students was launched at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. More than 30,000 potential users have tested the network.
After months of research, Bjorn decided to apply mesh networking technology as a possible business investment. His goal is to provide internet solutions at cost-effective prices in areas where the network can be supported. This is mutually beneficial for both users and service providers.
